Asset security tags are a great loss prevention system that has developed recently using the latest technology of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and GPS for easy tracking of the assets. The RFID technology uses electromagnetic fields to identify and track tags attached to objects automatically. Asset security tags identify the equipment using a barcode or a unique serial number. Most of the asset tags have some kind of an adhesive at their back which enables them to stick to the assets. Asset tags are usually used to track the asset or equipment. For instance, in a clothing store, the manufacturer puts asset tags on all pieces of its clothing available for sale so that they can track each item of clothing and so that people cannot just steal them. The asset tags are only removed at such stores after a person has paid at the check-out counter.

The asset security tags are usually hard tags offered in a huge range from being cost effective and varying in weights and technology. Some of the tags use Radio Frequency (RF) hard tags and Acousto-Magnetic (AM) hard tags. These hard tags are reusable, light weights are pleasing to the eyes all the while serving their function of providing security, superior detection and easy removal by the use of detachers at checkout. These hard tags can be used on all types of hard goods and apparel thus providing high protection against theft and loss.

One of the type of an asset tag is a Mini Tag w/pin. It is one of the most used Radio Frequency tags in the world. It is used with a pin and comprises of a magnetic locking mechanism. It is highly appropriate to protect clothes and other accessories. It comes at a price of approximately $169.99 and comes in a carton which comprises about 1000 pieces per box including the pins. This Mini Tag uses the RF 8.2Mhz technology in its security tag. Another great option is a Clam Tag which comes in a round shape and is sometimes called a G-Tag Superlock. It has additional features which makes it a better option than the normal hard tags. However, it is also a little expensive than the standard hard tags, priced at $249 and comes with about 500 pieces per box. It also requires a special detacher to remove it from the accessories or clothing.

There are many more options as well and come in a wide range of specifications, weights, appearance and prices. Thus, an individual needs to check one’s requirements before investing in them. But no matter what the requirements, one will surely find an asset tag to fulfil one’s security needs.
